After a successful film, actors usually go on a signing spree but that was not the case with Yaami Gautam, who made her Bollywood debut with John Abraham's home production Vicky Donor.
"I have always done work to which my heart says yes. If a film is a huge hit, you are careful in choosing your next project," says Yaami, who took a while to sign her second film Total Siyapaa, opposite Ali Zafar, produced by Neeraj Pandey of A Wednesday fame. "However, that doesn't mean I am scared. It is just that the script should appeal to me. There were lots of offers that came my way and Total Siyapaa is something I really liked," she said.
But doesn't Yaami feel that the success of Vicky Donor benefited her co-star Ayushmann more than her? "I would have considered it more natural if we were talking about two actresses. Every actor has their own career graph and choices on what they want to do in their life. I understand why this comparison comes because we started with our first film together but at the end of the day we're two different individuals. You're not answerable to any of your colleagues. For me it was never about I have to make this much money or to sign these many films. Even when I was not doing films, I always believed in content. For me, it's not been about let's have a signing spree and I don't believe that we have to announce because we have to announce a film," the actress explains.
