She made her acting debut in the 2005 Telugu movie Super and rose to fame following her performance in Vikramarkudu (2006) which became her first commercial success.After starring in a series of high-budget productions alongside leading Telugu movie actors, she went on to became one of Telugu cinema's leading actresses in the successive years,while receiving high critical acclaim for her portrayal of the titular character in telugu horror and story oriented movie Arundhati,and as Saroja in Vedam,which fetched her two Filmfare, one Nandi and two CineMAA Awards.

But now, it is heard that the very mention of the name Simbu, the Tamil hero, is giving Anushka tons of sweat. Though she has not worked with Simbu in even one film, the Tamil hero took enough measures by spreading a rumor in the media circles that Anushka has got an affair going on with him.
